What does it means to style?
"For me, it’s more than just putting a look together. It’s about what it means, what it stands for, and how it feels. For instance, when we step out, we want to make an entrance, a moment.
You have to be on point. Nothing can be off. Every detail matters - shoes, hair, bags, the fit, etc.
Coordination is key. By that, I mean taking items with different patterns, textures, colors and providing the right amount of contrast. It’s easy to match a shirt with the same colored shoe. Coordination is knowing how to make what you’re wearing pop without having to do too much, but doing it effortlessly."
How were you drawn to styling?
“Establishing looks is what I call my forte. There were times where I would enjoy being by myself, in my own space, creating and envisioning the looks I wanted to see come to life. I would consistently find myself putting outfits together. This was something I felt I could do with my eyes closed. It was easy. If a look didn’t move me, it wasn’t complete. I would dig deeper into the details to see what pieces would highlight a client’s vibe. Even if it’s a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, you can still deliver!”
Your approach to styling?
"I challenge myself. I take a different route. A route that brings excitement. Following trends is easy. That’s something you do on an off day or lazy day. I want my client to feel great about being themselves. It's not just about the designer, what’s popular, or what’s in season. Also it’s not about what you look like, your age, or where you’re from. It’s about how you own it! Overstepping the norm, but doing it with great style, is my approach."
